The SEOST CRO Playbook
Conversion Rate Optimization.
The practitioner's guide to turning the traffic you already have into revenue. No gimmicks — the friction fixes and tests that actually move the needle.
CRO is the cheapest growth you'll ever buy — you already paid for the traffic, you're just keeping more of it.
Most teams pour money into more clicks while quietly leaking half of them at the door. Fix the page before you buy more traffic and every channel — SEO, paid, email — gets more profitable overnight, at no extra ad spend.
This guide is the same material we run on stage at SEO Spring Training: modeled on the pages and funnels that are actually converting, broken into fixes you can ship one at a time. Start with the biggest leak, then come go deeper with the people doing the work.

How CRO actually works.
Every conversion gain comes down to three questions. Get these right and the tactics take care of themselves.
Where are they leaking?
You can't fix a drop-off you can't see. Analytics and honest observation show you the exact step where visitors give up — that's where to work first.
What's the friction?
Slow load, unclear offer, too many choices, a form that asks too much. Most of the win is removing reasons to leave, not adding clever tricks.
Did it actually work?
Opinion isn't evidence. Measure the change against a baseline — and, when you have the traffic, test it — so you ship what moves money, not what you like.

Questions
CRO, answered.
What is conversion rate optimization?
CRO is the practice of getting more of your existing visitors to take the action that matters — buy, book, call, sign up — by removing friction and testing what actually works. It makes every other channel more profitable without spending more on traffic.
What's a good conversion rate?
It depends entirely on your traffic source, offer and price point — a cold ad landing page and a warm email list play by different rules. The number that matters is your own baseline and whether it's trending up. Compare yourself to last month, not to a blog average.
Is CRO worth it if I have low traffic?
Often it's the best place to start. You may not have enough volume for statistically clean A/B tests, but fixing obvious friction, clarifying the offer and speeding up the page lift conversions at any traffic level — and set you up to scale.
How does site speed affect conversions?
Directly. Every extra second of load time costs you sales — visitors bounce before the page even renders. Speed is one of the highest-ROI CRO fixes because it helps rankings and conversions at the same time.
Do I need A/B testing software to do CRO?
Not to start. Analytics plus honest observation of where people drop off will surface most of the big wins. Testing tools matter once you have the traffic to run clean experiments and want to prove a change before you ship it.
